Princeton, Indiana is the new home of Total Interior Systems America (TISA), a joint venture between Takashimaya Nippatsu Kogyo Co. Ltd. (TNK), and Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA). This joint venture was established November 2000. Utilizing over 200,000 sq. ft., this approximately $10 million dollar facility is locating in Gibson County just north of Toyota Manufacturing Indiana.
Approximately 275 employees will be hired by TISA with wages exceeding $10 per hour. Excellent benefits including major medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability insurance, vacation and 401k will be provided by the company to each new employee.
TISA will assemble all three rows of seating for the Toyota Sienna minivan, as well as manufacture the front and rear plastic injection molded door panels. Plans are for the facility to be complete by the first of December 2001.
TISA has been steadily hiring key personnel since December 2000 and currently employs 28 individuals. Plans are to begin hiring hourly personnel 8/1/01.
Training will be significant over the next year with hourly and salaried individuals traveling to Japan and other locations to see the process first-hand. Start of production is scheduled for January 2003.
Japan-based TNK is a major supplier of seats and door panels to Toyota employing over 2,200 persons at eight assembly plants in Japan, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
Lear Corporation, a Fortune 150 company headquartered in Southfield MI, focuses on automotive interiors and electronics and employs over 120,000 employees worldwide.
