Located in Mt. Vernon, Indiana at Mile Marker 828 on the north shore of the Ohio River, Southwind Maritime Centre has 292 acres immediately available for heavy to light industrial development.

Southwind boasts approximately two miles of developed river frontage with all piers and docks complete and operational. There is excellent channel depth at the port, with year-round operation. The strategic location provides easy access not only to the Ohio Valley, but also to Mobile, Alabama, via the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, and to New Orleans, Louisiana, via the Mississippi River system. A facility located at Southwind can easily serve both domestic and international markets.

Rail service to the US East, Midwest, South, North and Canada is provided through CSX Transportation. Private switching service is offered for intraport cargo shipping. The port’s 6.5 miles of track have a 107 ton per car weight limit and storage facilities are available for over 90 rail cars. In addition, the port’s intermodal transloading facilities can accommodate 20 and 40 foot containers. On site stevedoring is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Interstate 64 and US 41 are nearby via state roads 62 and 69. More than 50 trucking companies serve the Mt.Vernon/Posey County areas.

Southwind is 18 miles west of the Evansville Regional Airport where five airlines provide jet and commuter service with more than 40 flights per day. Direct service is available to many Midwestern cities.

Southwind has Foreign Trade Zone Status and is legally considered to be outside of US Custom Service Territory for the purpose of duties collection. An importer or manufacturer may import materials to this zone and postpone duties until the goods leave the FTZ.
