The chart above shows the average monthly charge (1,000 kW, 4000,000 kWh) for a typical industrial user, compared to the average for Indiana as a whole, and other Midwest states. A Southwest Indiana location would save the typical industry, in this example, over $107,000 per year! Larger users would save proportionally more.
Electric power is provided by two investor-owned utilities (Duke/PSI and VECTREN), by several rural electric cooperatives (all affiliated with Hoosier Energy), and several municipal utilities. Natural Gas
Natural Gas is provided to the region through a large number of local distribution companies or LDCs. The LDCs receive the gas they sell from one or more of the interstate pipelines that pass through the region. For specific information on rates in a given area, please visit our Member Links.
Telecommunications
AT&T and Verizon provide local access telecommunications service in most of the area. They have installed digital switches in most of the offices. Many areas have AT&T 5ESS switches; some areas have a Northern Telecom DSM 100. Other telecommunications services that are available include:
