Large grant awarded to Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission
June 24, 2005
The U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) on Friday announced a $52,628 investment grant to the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission in Ferdinand, Ind.
The investment will help the commission continue work on a comprehensive economic development planning program for south-central Indiana.
"President Bush believes one way to create jobs is to grow the economy by encouraging investments in local communities," said David A. Sampson, U.S. assistant secretary of commerce for economic development, in a statement.
"This EDA investment will maintain an economic development planning program that is attracting new business opportunities and creating higher-skill, higher-wage jobs for local citizens," Sampson added.
EDA serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the country.
EDA's mission is to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy. Additional information on how EDA programs are trying to help distressed communities create a positive and sustainable economic future can be found at http://www.eda.gov on the Internet. |
